Hello and welcome to another inspiring day!!! I’m Priss (@artful.layers<\/a>), and I’m happy to be here today to share a fantastic transformation with you with the lovely Inky Mushrooms<\/a> stamps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I’ve taken an empty pill box and turned it into a beautiful container for storing sentiments using mixed media techniques. This small project echoes many other decorative elements in my craft room, and I’m excited to present it to you as inspiration for repurposing containers and embellishing them for your desk or workspace. Join me on this artistic adventure as we dive into the world of recycling and repurposing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, I want to share with you a valuable tip that has transformed my creative process: the power of prepared materials. As artists, we often find ourselves in the flow of inspiration, eager to bring our ideas to life. However, sometimes the hunt for supplies can slow us down, leaving us frustrated and disrupting the creative momentum. That’s where having a stash of prepped materials comes in handy, and I’m going to show you how it has revolutionized my mixed media art journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key ways I have simplified my creative process is by having a few texts ready from the Mixed Sentiments 1<\/a>, Journal Words<\/a> and Mix a Sentiment 2023<\/a> sets. Of course I always need to have them stored on hand and organized. That’s why I have two boxes of sentiments, one where I keep the phrases and another where I keep the individual words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These sentiments, which I often use in Art Journals, Tags and ATCs, come in various shapes and sizes. By cutting them out and organizing them ahead of time, I eliminate the need to search for the perfect phrase when I’m in the middle of a project. It’s amazing how this small change can keep creative energy flowing smoothly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My migraine pills come three at a time in this not-so-tiny box, which also has a nice flat shape that fits perfectly among my Rubber Dance Stamps collection. That’s why I first prepare it with white gesso (the box is a horrible blue) and then I carefully cover them with some of my wallpapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another time-saving technique in my studio is to have stamps prepared in advance. After coloring and cutting them out for a specific project, I often have leftovers. Instead of letting them collect dust, I store them in containers labeled by brand. This way, when I need a specific image for a new piece, I sometimes don’t have to start from scratch. It not only saves time but also ensures consistency in my artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So I turned to one of these containers to get some matching stamps to decorate my new sentiment box and chose this from the Inky Mushrooms set that I had left over from the inspiration page for the July challenge (you can see my page here<\/a> and here<\/a>). And of course they could not miss the sentiments that perfectly match with my little box “Art, it’s up to you”<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hope you enjoyed these tips and feel inspired to create your own treasure boxes. Remember that it is better to reuse and that at home we can find all kinds of boxes that could be used to store our sentiments and colored stamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
