Hi everyone! My name is Peley Renata and I have prepared for you two very sweet mixed media tags inspired by the Sketchy Birds 1<\/a> stamp set from the Rubber Dance using Distress Oxide Sprays to create the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The first step was to prepare my substrate, so I used one of the older metal dies from Sizzix to cut out the tags. At this point it is kind of important to decide what type of mediums you are going to use as it can help you with the choice of the paper. That said, mostly it is perfectly fine to use any mixed media paper, and my choice was Canson Mixed Media Imagine 200gsm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I had my die cutting machine out on the table, I decided to do some more die cutting, but this time with the purpose of giving some interesting base texture to my tags. For this, I have used two older metal dies from my stash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And now starts the fun part \u2013 playing with the Distress Oxide Sprays. I decided to color both tags using different sets of sprays, while keeping in mind that all these colors go well together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first tag I used: Chipped Sapphire, Mermaid Lagoon and Speckled Egg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the second tag I used: Salvaged Patina, Shabby Shutters and Twisted Citron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the colors were dry, I realized I wanted to emphasize a bit the achieved textures. To complete that, I went over the textured parts with Caran d\u2019Ache Neocolors II. Next, I decided to further embellish the background using Mixed Media Marks #1 stamp set and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink pad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the backgrounds were done, I went on to prepare my focal images. As I said in the beginning, the inspiration for this project came from the Sketchy Birds 1<\/a> stamp set, so I have stamped and colored them using Caran d\u2019Ache Neocolor II crayons. At this point I started thinking about my layout, but I felt like something was still missing. So, I went back to some more die cutting. This gave the birds something to stand on, but also some more interest to my tags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of of course, let\u2019s not forget to add a sentiment\u2026or in my case a couple of words. For this purpose, I really love using the Mix A Sentiment<\/a> stamp set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last step was to add a thread to the tags and I could call this project done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
