Art Journal Collage with Textured Mushrooms

Hi there, Susanne here! I’m sharing a mixed media collage in my handmade junk art journal using stamps from our Textured Mushrooms set. I really love to create pages in this junky journal, because it’s already quite messy and I don’t mind to even make a bigger mess with all kinds of mediums.

On this page I started with some collage pieces and then added some spots of white gesso with a scraper tool. After the gesso was dry I used Distress Crayons in warm tones to bring in some more color. I removed a bit of the Crayons on the page by wiping it away through our Small Ink Dots stencil. For more interest on the background I added stamping with our Vintage Postcard stamp and a few of our Autumn Leaves in black. To make the spread more vibrant and energetic I splattered some black and gold acrylic ink onto the pages. I did the same with some disolved turquoise Neocolor II. I made some extra marks with this crayon here and there.

The mushrooms are stamped onto different gelli prints. I then cut out some of the heads and paper-pieced them onto a full mushroom. That gives you some very unique images to put not only on art journal pages, they are also great for ATCs, tags, scrapbook-pages or greeting cards. I drew a bottom with a black watercolor pencil onto the page so the mushrooms have something to sit on.

For the title I picked some words from our Mix A Sentiment stamp set. I have embossed them with white powder onto black cardstock.
