Mixed Media Index Cards with Collage Fodder & Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with two mixed media index cards. I used various techniques on the background and some stenciled focal images that I made using our Sketchy Leaves 2 and Sketchy Leaves 3 Stencils. You will find a full tutorial on these botanical collage pieces at the end of this post.

I cut these cards (3″ x 5″) from heavy weight watercolor cardboard and adhered some thin collage paper and sealed them with a thin layer of clear gesso. After this was dry I used dry pastels together with water to bring in some color. For a grungy look I used Derwent Charcoal as well. To bring in texture I used stamps from our Mix It Up 1 and Mixed Media Marks 1 sets. I added some white space with the white Art Graf Tailor shape and some turquoise highlights with acrlic paint (Amsterdam Turquoise Green) and the backsides of my brushes.

I put some more collage papers underneath my focal image to give it something to sit on and added a sentiment from our Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp set.

Here is a video tutorial on how I made my focal images:

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
