A Troop of Inky Mushrooms – Art Journal Page

Hello, Samantha here today and I’m sharing another mixed media page for my art journal. This particular page was inspired by a card I made using just one of the fabulous mushrooms from the new Inky Mushrooms stamp set, here’s the card:

I really enjoyed making the card but it was difficult to choose just one mushroom, hence my journal page with a group of mushrooms. Did you know a group of mushrooms is called a troop?

The card and journal page had the same process, I began by roughly painting the background and stamping some of the images from the Mixed Media Borders stamp set, this I thought would help connect the main images from behind and add a little movement. I dry brushed some white gesso over the top of this layer. I then stamped using the same paint as the background some images from the Carved Collection 4 stamp set, I then used the new Organic 1 stencil and some gold iridescent paint to add the lovely sheen. Using old book pages, I die cut some circles, in hindsight for my journal page I may have used different sized circles. I aged the cut book page using a black gelato. The mushrooms were stamped on white card and coloured using watercolour paints and everything was then adhered in place and some inky splats made the finishing touches.
