Watercolor Christmas Scene – Art Journal Page

Happy weekend, crafters! I’m Priss ( @artful.layers) and the Christmas is coming, so I couldn’t resist capturing the holiday spirit in my latest Art Journal entry. 🎄✨ However, if Christmas isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Simply remove the Christmas tree and join me in creating a Winter Wonderland Art Journal Page. ❄️✨ Click continue to immerse yourself in the creative process – let’s make this weekend a masterpiece together!

I want to share with you some information about how I came up with the ideas for this page. I worked hard on it and I’m really happy with the result.

I chose a watercolor block as my journal support and stamped various elements: a house from the Happy Place set, a car from the Whimsical Summer set, and some trees and a star from the Textured Xmas Trees set.

I painted my scene with my favorite pigments as if they were watercolors and there is a tip that I want to share with you on this matter. I recommend that you emboss all stamps with Embossing Powders, to make your life easier while painting. This will prevent colors from mixing when you don’t want this to happen. You have several options, you can stamp with black EP directly or my favorite, which is to stamp with black permanent ink and then emboss with clear EP. The black permanent ink allows you to see and properly adjust the stamps to the scene. Finally, if you don’t have embossing powder or a heat gun, I recommend always stamping with quick-drying permanent inks and making sure it is completely dry before starting to paint with watercolors.

I have a helpful tip to share with you today regarding stamping overlapping elements, such as my forest trees. You can use masking paper for this purpose. This is a special paper that has light glue which allows you to stamp the element before cutting it out outside the outer line.

First, stamp the elements that will be completely in front and do not overlap, such as the two trees at the ends. Then, cover them with the masking paper (you may need to stamp and cut out two identical trees) and stamp the overlapping element freely, such as the tree in the middle. And by the way, I think I should have stamped it a little higher for the triangle of the composition was better defined, but I forgive myself haha.

Hope this inspires you to explore the endless possibilities of your art journal and experiment with the incredible variety of stamps and mixed media tools available.

I have some detailed photos of my page to show you. Take a look and let yourself be inspired by them. The images will surely give you many ideas on how to use all the brand’s stamps to build the scene that you like the most and give it color with your watercolors. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey. May your creativity continue to flow and be inspired by these stamps, which you can find here and here.

And finally, don’t forget to share your creations with us in our FB group (Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge), we’d love to see them!

Until next time, happy creating!

Hugs, Priss
