Mixed Media ATCs with Textured Birds

Hello & Welcome to another inspiring day in our blog!!! I’m Priss (@artful.layers), and I’m happy to be here today to share some beautiful mixed media ATCs with you. While this post won’t be a tutorial, it’s an invitation to dive into the world of ATCs featuring the stunning Textured Birds stamp set. These little pieces of art hold stories waiting to be explored. So, let’s embark on this creative journey together and get inspired.

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature works of art that are created on a substrate the size of a sports card. They are usually traded between artists. The standard size of an ATC is 3.5 by 2.5 inches, and it is strictly prohibited to add anything that protrudes from that size (however I’m naughty and sometimes, just sometimes, I break this strict rule 🤫 but you have to be nice and don’t do that). ATCs are created in sets of at least two cards and cannot be sold.

I made these little cards using mixed media art techniques. Mixed media art is a form of creative expression that combines different materials and mediums, such as paint, paper, fabric, metal, etc. It allows you to create unique and original artworks that reflect your personality and style.

For this project, I decided to use a piece of A5 size cardboard and glued some absorbent paper to it that I had stained with shades of turquoise blue and violet pigments, which formed spectacular designs of colors and shine. I also used my new Rainbows 2 template and my new brand stamps set Mix it Up 4 (my new favorite) to create some patterns and textures in the background and make it more interesting. Then I added some die-cut leaves on cream leather texture paper.

The focal point of my project is this gorgeous little bird from the set ‘Textured Birds‘ that I painted with alcohol markers in yellow, blue and teal tones. To accentuate the colors I included shadows with colored pencils. Then I added some details with acrylic paint markers.

I prepared my sentiment with the word “LOVE” using black cardstock and white embossing powder.

I hope you liked my project and got inspired to try mixed media art yourself. It is a fun and easy way to express your creativity and make beautiful artworks. You can use any materials and colors that you like and experiment with different techniques and styles. The possibilities are endless!

Check out these amazing ATCs inspiration and get ready to be blown away! And if you love Textured Birds, we’ve got you covered with even more inspiring ideas here and here.

I really hope you enjoyed the post and that it has left you feeling inspired to create some amazing ATCs.

Until next time, happy creating time! 😊

Hugs, Priss
