Vintage Junk Journal Cards with Textured Mushrooms

Hi there, Susanne here with some diy journaling cards. Today I am sharing some cute altered playing cards with a vintage style for your handmade junk journals or mini albums. I am playing with our Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set.

The base of my cards are real playing cards that I still have from my granny. The set was not complete anymore, so I decided to use the cards for some creative projects. A good reason to not throw them away!

I started the cards by painting them with some vintage colors. I used my flash paints. These are vinyl paints, you can use acrylic or gouache instead! I kept a frame on the outside so the playing card stays visible!

Whilst the cards were drying I prepared the mushrooms. I stamped the images to watercolor paper and embossed that with clear powder immediately. This gives the images a nice finish. I am coloring the mushrooms with watercolors. For the white marks on the mushrooms I used a Posca paint pen and applied it in two layers!

Before adhering the mushrooms to the cards I stamped the numbers from Mix It Up 6 onto the backgrounds using StazOn inks in similar colours.

I made some similar cards recently with our Inky Mushrooms, here is a video tutorial of those cards:

Here are some close-up images of the finished cards:

I hope you like ephemera cards! Thanks for stopping by today!
