Mini Art Journal Page with Distress Inks & Sketchy Leaves 5

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page in my mini watercolor journal using Distress Inks and Oxides together with a leaf from our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil. Scroll down for a quick process video.

I started the page by applying Distress Inks with a mini gelli plate that I mounted to an acrylic block. I used Rusty Hinge and Forest Moos. I let every layer dry inbetween. As a last ink layer I used Distress Oxide in Peacock Feathers. After the background was dry I used images from the Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 6 stamp sets to bring in textured.

To create the focal image I used our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil. I applied Distress Oxide in Black Soot through the stencil to a piece of mix media paper. After the ink was dry I placed the stencil back and stamped embossing ink through the stencil with the maths stamp from Mix It Up 4. I embossed this with white powder. I cut the leaf out and adhered it to the art journal page. I painted a little bit of Black Soot Distress Ink around the image to make it pop.
