Mixed Media Art Journal Page with Watercolors & Collage

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a collage + watercolor + Distress Ink background with our Ornament stencil and stamps from our Mix It Up 7, Mix It Up 4 and Pencil Marks 2 sets. Scroll down for a video tutorial.

I started the page by adhering a gelli printed deli paper. I covered everything with a layer of clear gesso. To bring in color I used watercolors first in neon pink and a granulating yellow. I let that dry and added more texture with our Ornament stencil and Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers. To make the background more interesting and to let the colors shine I added a swoop of black acrylic paint across the page. Whilst this was drying I prepared a focal image with collage papers and an image from Pencil Marks 2.

Before I adhered the focal image to my spread I stamped some texture with images from Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 7. To finish the page I added some black splatters and a sentiment from our This Is Me stamp set.
