Crafty Tag with Doodle Flowers 2 & Distress Inks

Lindsey (doodlings_cards) here with a tutorial for a mixed media tag using Distress Oxides, background stamping and a focal image from Doodle Flowers 2.
For the tag background, I used Distress Oxides. First I brayered ink to get a random patterned look, then used a different ink colour with the Marks 3 stencil and finally inked around the edges for definition.

Stencilling done, now time for background stamping using the Mix It Up 6 stamp set. The text stamp was inked up with dark grey Versafine and then the splatter heart stamp was heat embossed in silver.

Background finished, time to gather some collage elements. The pink flower is from the Doodle Flowers 2 stamp set, painted in acrylics; the pseudo washi tape is from the Mix It Up 2 stamp set and the water coloured leaves are from the Loose Florals 2024 stamp set.

I like to stamp some of my collage elements in black Versafine on thin tissue paper. I then cut them out close to the edge of the stamped image and adhere them with a glue stick. This allows me to add stamped images to backgrounds that aren’t “flat” whereas I would struggle to stamp on such backgrounds. I added my customary stitching around the edge of the tag. A Wink of Stella and sequins and pearls in complementary colours are the final embellishments.

Here’s a couple of close-ups …

Thanks so much for joining me today! Look forward to seeing you again soon 😊
