Creative Layering on a Collage Paper

Hi there, Susanne here with a fun tutorial on how to make a big collage paper with stencil texture, using Mini Marks & Ornament 1, our Pencil Marks 8, Pencil Marks 1 & Mix It Up 5 stamp sets, acrylic inks, soft pastels and mark making.
Handmade collage fodder is the best, isn’t it. Today I walk you through the process of creating a big messy collage paper with mixed media and a lot of layers.
I’m starting by stamping images from Pencil Marks 8, Pencil Marks 1 & Mix It Up 5 in black, blue and brown with waterproof inks. For the next layer I applied some soft pastels with Mat Medium to tone the paper with turquoise and blue shades. If you don’t have soft pastels, you can also use Neocolors II in a similar way. I am adding some white gesso in a few areas with a silicone brush to add highlights and blend the background. Once everything was dry I applied some soft pastels again in turquoise and yellow shades together with acrylic inks. You can leave the soft pastels out and work with acrylic inks only.
To add more highlights I am applying white acrylic paint with our Ornament 1 stencil.
Enjoy watching my tutorial!

It was a very relaxing process and I can’t wait to share some projects using this paper!
I finished the paper by making some marks with Neocolors and a the numbers stamps from Mix It Up 7.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne
