Make Your Own Design Papers with Stencils & Distress Inks

Hi there, Susanne here with a new tutorial on Distress Ink & Oxide backgrounds! I love making my own papers for greeting cards or other paper projects and today I am sharing some Spring-themed handmade design papers made with a variety of our stencils.
All the stencils I’ve used are listed at the end of this post. It’s an easy process – it might need a little bit practice in the beginning. I am picking my stencil, ink it up with a mix of Distress Inks and Oxides, add water with a spray bottle, turn the stencil around and press it to my paper. I am using a kitchen roll to soak up the excess. It’s easier to watch the process in the video I’ve linked below.
These are the inks I’ve used for today’s papers.
Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet, Crushed Olive, Bundled Sage, Picked Raspberry, Walnut Stain
Distress Oxides: Broken China, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade, Black Soot, Mustard Seed

If you want to switch things up after your first layer of ink is dry, you can align the stencil again and apply some ink through it with a blending tool. I demonstrated that in the video.
Here are some close-ups of the backgrounds I made:

I will share some cards I’ve made with these backgrounds over the next weeks! So stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by today! xx Susanne
