Abstract Watercolor Art Journal Page with Collage Leaves 3

Hi there, Susanne here sharing an abstract watercolor art journal page using granulating paints, mark making and a stamp from our Collage Leaves 3, Pencil Marks 8 and Mix It Up 7 sets.

Whenever I feel a bit uninspired, but want to make something creative or get my mojo going I like to play with materials. This time I picked my granulating watercolor palette and had a play. I worked in my art journal and primed the paper with clear gesso. I applied the paints quite loosely in big strokes and with a lot of water. I also made some splatters. I added some mark making into the wet paint using a black water-soluble pencil.
Once the paint was dry I added stamping with images from Pencil Marks 8 and Mix It Up 7. I also drew a pattern with white paint which was more opaque.
My focal image is from our Collage Leaves 3 stamp set. I stamped it directly to the page with a black waterproof ink and redrew it with a black acrylic paint pen. I coloured the leaf with white to make it pop a bit more from the background.
