Art Journal Page with Sketchy Leaves 5 & Distress Ink Smooshing

Hi there, Susanne here with a new mixed media art journal page using Distress Inks together with stencils and a mini gel plate to create texture and depth. I am also working with stamps from my Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 6 stamp set. As my focal image I used a leaf that I’ve made with my Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil, Distress Oxide in Wild Honey and some embossed textures

To create the background I do some Distress Inks Smooshing with our Marks 3, Cross It and Wheels stencils. I play around with a brush and water, too, to move the ink around. I also used the spiral and label stamps from Mix It Up 4 to bring in more interest.

To create the focal image I used our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil. I stamped through it with images from Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 6 and embossed these in white. I then used the Distress Oxide ink in Dried Marigold with a blending brush. The embossing will resist the ink. I let it dry a bit and then cut it out leaving a white border.
