Mixed Media Postcard on Wood with Pencil Marks

Hi, it’s Sara Ferret here, and I’m going to create a mixed media wood Postcard using stamps from Pencil Marks 3 and Pencil Marks 7, I hope you like my tutorial🩵💙🖤.

First of all I’m going to prime the wooden postcard with white Gesso to make the surface non-porous. I make some scribbles into the wet gesso with my silicone brush and then let it dry.

I use blue and green liquid watercolor together with a water spray to add color. By moving the postcard I fill the background with ink. I let that dry again.

I use the harlequin stamp, from Pencil Marks 3 set, with blue stazon pigment ink. I stamped irregularly to the right of the postcard. From now to the end I am going to use different stamps from the same set.

Then with the round stamp and blue embossing ink, on the other side I stamp five circles, unordered and some outside the margin of the postcard, and we dry so that the embossing goes from dust to plastic and remains permanent.

I also stamp the squares with embossing ink but this time transparently on a separate piece of cardboard, with this I can make a resist. And then with turquoise watercolors I paint the background. And then I cut out this creation by hand, so that it is an irregular cut.

Since I have the watercolors on hand, I use them to make some splashes on the background of the postcard, with the brush.

I take the cotton flower stamp and paint it with the Stabilo Woody, dipping the tip in water. That’s a fun alternative to usual stamping ink. I’m going to stamp it three times since I’m going to use it as decoration and I prefer to have leftovers.

I take one of the black flowers that I made with this same technique in a previous tutorial to make the composition, and have something contrasting besides the blues. This one belongs Pencil Marks 7 set.

I will use a blue cotton ribbon and a turquoise sari ribbon, and sew them together with the sewing machine, this will allow me to have a frame where I can put the final sentiment

I test the combination of the flowers in the background before gluing it, it is always good to take a photo when you have it more or less clear so that when you take it out to put the glue on, you can more or less put it the same as you had thought. I have cut the black flower into three pieces, and one of the blue one also into two parts. I’ve added two preserved leaf skeletons.

And we would have our wooden postcard made, we added some loose black thread in the background and our main word “ilusión” which in Spanish means illusion.

I hope you liked it, see you here soon, kisses Sara 💙🩵💙🩵
