Mixed Media Card with Collage Fodder

Hi everyone! It’s Laura on the Rubber Dance blog today and I have some card making inspiration to share with you using the Big Triangles, Ink Dots and Sketchy Leaves 1 stencil.

This card has lots of different layers to it which really helps to bring the design together. First I choose my colour palette and I swatched it out on some water colour cardstock to be sure I was happy with the colours.

Next I masked a piece of watercolour cardstock to my desk so it had a thin border and I created a watercolour wash background using the blues and lilac tones from my palette. I then added some stenciling using the Big Triangles stencil and Bundled Sage Distress Oxide. I also stamped through the stencil with the ticket stamp from Mixed Media Marks 1. I used the Ink dots stencil to add some ochre acrylic paint to the background.

I then added the post card stamp in the background from Mix it up 6. I used VersaFine Clair Twilight Ink so that the stamping was cohesive with the colour palette.

I had the Sketchy Leave premade in my collage fodder box from a previous project so I decided that would be my focal element. Behind it I added some black cotton thread and then some rice paper. I liked my swatch card and decided to bring that into the card as well. I added some thin foam tape behind the leaf and added a sentiment.

I hope you like it and that you get some inspiration for using your stencils!

Happy crafting!

Laura x
