Mixed Media Journal Card with Stencil Background & Distress Ink

Hi from Åshild! New stamps and stencils from Susanne always make me happy and inspired to play. This time I’ve made a journal card by using the new Organic 4 stencil the beautiful coneflower from the Mix it up 7 stamp set and the word “Bloom” from the gorgeous Vintage Stuff 1.

Handmade journal cards give your scrapbooking projects a very unique look or could also be used as gift tags or card toppers.
I used Distress Ink pads and Blending tools from Ranger to create the background, and stamped the motifs in black to get them pop from the colorful background. I also used white and black pens to add details.

A package of Project Life cards from a loooong time ago are perfect for this project.
Using the stencil and the blue colors at the bottom of the card.
And a pinkish red at the top.
And softening it all with a lighter tone of the two colors.
Stamping the Shining Star of the card – the flower. I stamped a second and third shadow print too. I stamped the background with an old text stamp that is no longer available. You can for example use the text from Mix It Up 5.
To make the main flower more eye catching, I used a white pen to color it.
And a black pen to draw a frame.

Thanks for stopping by today!
Enjoy the day and give yourself some time to be creative – even 10 minutes counts.
Love from Åshild
