Abstract Mixed Media Art Journal Page with Collage Fodder

Hi there, Susanne here with a quick and easy abstract mixed media art journal page that I made in my spiral bound collage journal. I used one of the images from our Collage Leaves 2 as my focal point together with a collage background and mark making. Scroll down for a full video tutorial.

I started this spread with a collage from gelli prints. I added texture with some stamps from Mixed Media Marks 1 (it’s 10% off in April!), mark making with Neocolors and some white splatters. As the background was already so colourful I decided to go with a black and white image. I used one botanical from our Collage Leaves 2 stamp set together with Distress Ink in Black Soot on a piece of watercolor paper. To get a more painterly look I inked up the stamp and spritzed it with a small amount of water before I stamped it.

I adhered the focal image on top of some curled up black thread, to give everything more dimension. Enjoy watching the full video tutorial:
