Abstract Watercolor Art Journal Page with Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with an abstract watercolor art journal page using mixed media stamps from our Mix It Up 1 stamps set and a botanical focal image from Sketchy Leaves. I embossed the leaf with white powder on a watercolor background. Scroll down for a quick process video.

The paints I am using for this spread are from Rosa Gallery and Schmincke. I picked some granulating ones to get some interesting textures. I started by laying down the paints intuitively and letting them bleed into each other. The journal I am using is not a watercolor book, it’s just a drawing sketchbook. I often really enjoy the texture watercolor creates on non-watercolor paper.
I added some stamping on the background with pink and black using images from Mix It Up 1.

I’m finishing the spread with some white ink splatters, some words from Mix A Sentiment and the focal point. Here is a quick process video:
