Abstract Watercolor Art Journal Page with Sketchy Leaves

Hi there, Susanne here with an abstract watercolor art journal page with a lot of mark making and a botanical focal image from Sketchy Leaves. I stamped the leaf directly to the page. I used Neocolors for the mark making. Scroll down for a quick process video.
I am starting the page by laying down the watercolors intuitively and let them bleed into each other. I picked quite a warm palette with some cobalt turquoise as a contrast. I used some granulating colours for some extra texture. The book I am working in is a normal drawing sketchbook, no watercolor paper. I love how granulating paints show up on normal papers. I add some splatters during the process for some more variation.
Once the page was dry I stamped my focal image in black and added scribbles and marks with Neocolor crayons. I did some additional mark making with metallic watercolors.

Here is a glimpse of the process:
I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne
