Art Journal Tutorial with Sketchy Leaves 5 and Distress Ink Background

Hi there, Susanne here with a new mixed media art journal page using Distress Oxide in black soot. I use different techniques to build up depth. For even more texture and interest I used our Stars stencil and also images form my Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 5 stamp sets. As my focal image I used a fern leave that I’ve made with my Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil.

I started the page by applying Distress Ink in Black Soot with a blending brush and our Stars stencil. I then added more interest with images from our Mix It Up 4 and Mix It Up 5 stamp sets. To bring in some colour I adhered some collage papers I made from old book pages and acrylic paints.

My title is stamped with our A to Z stamp set.

I made some pink, turquoise and black splatters to add more texture.

To create the focal image I used our Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil together with the gel plate. You can watch the process in this video:
