Art Journaling with Distress Inks & Stencils

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a Distress Ink background using our Dotted & Sketchy Leaves 5 stencils together with stamps from Pencil Marks 7 and Pencil Marks 8. Scroll down for a video tutorial.
I started the page with Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick by applying it with water on a plastic sheet I had left over from a pencil packaging. Next I stamped the dot pattern from Pencil Marks 8 with Wild Honey and applied some more of this ink over the top also with the plastic sheet. I am drying each layer in between and add some water splatters for extra texture. My next layer is with Distress Ink in Crushed Olive. I inked up our Dotted stencil, spritzed it with water and pressed it onto the page. For some more contrast I added a tiny bit of Chipped Saphire with the plastic sheet. Finally I used one of the masks from spritzed it with the Distress Oxide spray in Cracked Pistachio, a bit of water and pressed it onto the page. To bring in some more interest I stamped images from Mix It Up 4 the background.
To finish up my spread I painted a “grass bottom” with Cracked Pistachio and adhered the stamped flowers from Pencil Marks 7. I embossed them with black to a gelli print. I added some more stamping with the leaves from Pencil Marks 7 and Pencil Marks 8.
