Art Journal Page with Collage Fodder and Mark Making

Hi there, Susanne here with an abstract art journal page made with acrylic inks, Neocolor II crayons and stamps from Mix It Up 1 and Mixed Media Marks 1. I also use mark making and my focal image is a collage fodder embellishment, which was made with one of the Butterflies from the Butterflies and Moths set.

I started this spread by laying down acrylic inks in Orange shades. Once this was dry I added some compementary colors with Neocolor II on top. I did some mark making with a black watercolor pencil and some of my Neocolor II crayons. I made some black splatters and painted white marks with a posca pen.
As soon as the background was dry I did some stamping with the stitching borders and numbers from Mix It Up 1 and Mixed Media Marks 1.

As my focal image I picked this one, as it matches the colors of the page perfectly. I will link up a tutorial video for these collage fodder embellishments at the end of this post.

To make the embellishment piece stand out I adhered it on top of two old book page pieces. I finished the page by adding more mark makings with Posca Pens in white and yellow.

I finished the spread with more mark making using acrylic paint pens in turquoise and peach.

Here is the video on how to make the collage fodder embellishments:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
