Intuitive Art Journaling with Collage & Mixed Media

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a variety of different mediums, mark makings and a stamp from our Collage Leaves 2 set. Scroll down for a full process video.

I started the page by adding some stamped collage papers with clear gesso. The papers are some kind of brown rice and calligraphy papers and I had stamped them in the past with different images. For the vintage style paper I used images from Mix It Up 6 and Mix It Up 5 together with black permanent ink. For the colorful dot pattern I used Pencil Marks 1 together with neon acrylic paint.
Once the background was dry I applied Derwent XL Blocks (Graphitint & Tinted Charcoal) with water and a brush. I am playing intuitively with the paints. These products are new to me and I just started experimenting with them.

Once I was apply with the page I stamped an image of the Collage Leaves 2 to the left bottom corner and add some hightlights with white acrylic paint and our Marks 3 stencil. I am also making splatters with the thinned down paint. I let that dry and came back with my dip pen and some black drawing ink. I made a few botanical line drawings on my page. I finished the spread by adding some marks with a Neocolor II Crayon and a pencil.
