Art Journal Page with Watercolors

Hello, it’s Sara Ferret again. Today I’m going to make a page in my art journal using watercolors and a lot of layering with stencils and stamps. My focal image is a tag that I’ve stamped a sentiment on using the new A to Z stamp set.

I’m starting by putting watercolors in green and yellow tones to break the blank page. I’m making some brush strokes in the shape of a square frame. And some splashes of these same colors, but darker tones.

We dry it well with the heat tool. This time I will use a stencil Scribbles 1 with acrylic paint and a makeup sponge. We unload the sponge on the craftmat, and apply the yellow paint in the center of the page where the stencil is. By unloading the paint on the work surface, we avoid having smudges and not having the stencil drawing clearly visible.

I take some neon oil pastels and make some marks in green and yellow in the background. Later, I cut out three round shapes freehand on black cardstock. First, I make them a freehand round using a white Sakura solid marker, and then, using paste and a stencil Marks 3, I make some marks on each of the cardboard circles.

I decided to take one of the stamps from the Collage Leaves 2 set and make a frame on the right side of the page. I stamped it with “morning mist” Versafine Clair grey ink. After having stamped the ones that I thought were necessary, I took the fluorescent pink posca marker and drew on top of three.

I have placed my message on this page on a manila tag, with the new A to Z stamp. I have selected the characters that are larger and more hollow, then I will fill them in with the pink marker. I have painted the background of the tag in the same watercolor tones and I have glued it on a black card.
Using a large Molotow fluorescent pink acrylic marker, I make three thick marks on two sides of the page.

I took a sheet of music paper, to make a little collage, underneath one of the black round ones, and also around the tag. And finally I put a flower from the Sketchy Flowers 3 pack, made with pink embossing powder, and a piece of green sari ribbon #sarisdesara in the hole of the tag.

I hope you like the idea, if you are inspired by this project I would like to see it, tag us on social media @sara_ferret @rubberdance
