Art Journal Page with Distress Ink Background & Loose Florals

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a mixed media art journal page with a Distress Ink background and images from our Loose Florals stamp set. I also used our Cross It stencil to bring more texture on the background. Scroll down for a video tutorial.

I started the page by stamping a little bit of textured with a stamp from Mix It Up 4 with permanent ink. I then blended some blue shaded Distress Inks with a make up brush. I used Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Uncharted Mariner. To bring in highlights I spritzed water through our Cross It stencil onto the background. I let that sit a bit and then dabbed it off with a paper towel. For additional texture I sprinkled some waterdroplets onto the page.

Whilst the page was drying I started preparing my focal images. I stamped some of the flowers and leaves from our Loose Florals stamp set with embossing ink and used them with white powder. Once melted, I colored the elements with Distress Inks in Ripe Persimmon and Fossilized Amber by dipping the images into the inks.

I created a bottom on my page using a piece of old book paper. I inked that with some Brushed Corduroy and Fossilized Amber. I then arranged the flowers and drew some stems with a posca pen in white. To finish the page I build a title with letters from our A to Z stamp set on the left edge. I embossed the letters in white and colored them similar to the flowers. I cut them into rectangles and glued them down.
