Art Journal Page with Neocolor Background and Pencil Marks 7

Hi there, Susanne here with a new art journaling tutorial! Today I am creating a fun background Neocolor II crayons, our Mini Ink Dots stencil and stamps from Pencil Marks 7. I also use a bit of collage.
I started this spread by laying some Neocolors directly to the page. I used white gesso and a brayer to blend the colors. This creates a lovely pastell toned background. For some more depth I am adding more Neocolors once the background was dry. This time I blended them only with a little bit of water! So they keep the vibrancy and add contrast to the spread.

Once the Neocolors were dry I stamped two of the flowers from Pencil Marks 7 with Emerald Green StazOn ink. Next I added some stencil texture with our Mini Ink Dots stencil. To bring in more white space I applied more white gesso with a silicone brush.

After the page was dry I used more of the a small amount of acrylic inks to bring in some more vibrance. I used Quinachridone Magenta and Nickle Azo Yellow. I let these dry again before I used a light blue and white gouache stick to do some mark making. To make the colors pop even more I did some black stamping with acrylic paint and the leaves from Pencil Marks 7. If you use acrylic paints with your stamps, make sure to clean them immediately or store them wet until you have time to clean them.

To finish up the page I added a few collage elements and a title with die cut letters and a sentiment from our Mixed Sentiments 1. I added some black splatters for more vibrancy.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Thanks for stopping by today!
xx Susanne
