Art Journal Page Inspiration using Gel Prints and Stencils

Hi everyone! It’s Laura on the Rubber Dance blog today and for today’s post I have an Art Journal Page to share with you! For the background I played with the Mini Ink Dots stencil and Mixed Media Marks 1. My focal image is made with the Sketchy Leaves 2 stencil.

I was playing in my art journal and creating a collage background using gel prints I had made and to tone them down and blend them together I added some white acrylic paint over the top. It is nice to keep the brush strokes too so that you have extra texture.

Once the acrylic paint was dry I then added some stamping and stenciling to the background. I used the Mixed Media Marks 1 stamp set, a sentiment stamp from the Mix A Sentiment stamp set, and the Mini Ink Dots stencil both with black ink.

For my focal image I used a gel printed leaf which I had created using the Sketchy Leaves 2 stencil. I fussy cut it out and stuck it to the centre of my page. To finish, I added a sentiment from the Mix a Sentiment stamp set which was white heat embossed on black cardstock.
