Art Journal Page with Textured Sea Creatures

Hello, my lovely crafters! Priss here with you today with and art journal page using images from the Textured Sea Creatures. I hope everyone is doing well and feeling inspired to create beautiful art. I’m excited to share with you a new inspiration I’ve been working on for my Art Journal. I can’t wait to show you this beautiful page using only scrap paper, gesso, stamps, and color combinations. So grab your journal and let me inspire you with my page.

When I was doing my inspiration tag for our monthly challenge, I had a few small pieces of the background paper left over, so I randomly glue them into my tiny journal. And since I don’t like so much the hard edges, I integrated them with a bit of white gesso and one of my favorite pigments for mixed media, my beloved gelatos.

This is one of the most fun techniques to create your mixed media background. You just have to get one of the sets that Rubber Dance has to make background marks and play around with them in different areas of your page. In this case, I used stamps from the Pencil Marks 3 and Carved Collection 1 sets.

Choose a couple or three that you will stamp here or there in shades similar to the colors you used in the background.

And then select another stamp that you are going to stamp several times in black ink. I recommend that you do it in groups of three (preferably) or five (only if it was a small stamp). Do this in at least a couple of areas of your page, if it’s a very small page like mine. If it is a bigger journal you could do it in some other one.

With this beautiful background full of textures and layers, you don’t need more than a gorgeous focal point and an interesting quote.

As a focal point, I chose the adorable seahorses from the Textured Sea Creatures set and positioned them to look like a mother talking to her child.

I believe that an Art Journal page is always better if it includes a good quote, an interesting text, or my own reflections, but I always need something to help me dig deeper into the subject I want to convey.

This time I used one of the Mixed Sentiments 1 set, “The perfect moment is this one” because I absolutely adore the moments when I connect with my kids.

In my first paragraph, I told you that you only need scraps of paper, gesso, stamps, and color combinations to create a beautiful page. But perhaps the most difficult part when we are beginners is the color combinations.

If you don’t have much knowledge, you can be guided by our monthly challenge mood board, as I did in this case. Blue and yellow are always a great option to combine.

And if you are ready to go one step further, add some contrast color. In this case, I chose my focal points in shades of red, since the three form a color triad.

Now I leave you some photos with details of my page.  I hope you like it as much as I do when making it.

Join the fun and link up your creations using Rubber Dance stamps in the Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge. I will be delighted to see them and support you by spreading a lot of love.

Hugs, Priss
