Art Journal Page with Whale Wishes

Hello there, my lovely crafters! Priss here (@atful.layers) with you today. The year is near the end and a new one is knocking on our door, so It’s that time of the year again when we reflect on everything that has happened so far and start thinking about new goals to achieve in the upcoming year. What better way to capture these moments than in our art journals? Join me in creating a page that reflects this significant moment, allowing us to process and express its true essence.

I chose a whale dancing with the stars and clouds as the theme for my page. To bring this beautiful dance to life, I created a path of her movements using gold embossing powder on the stars of the set Textured Xmas Trees.

To highlight the stars, I used my preferred pigments in shades of dark blue and turquoise to color the pathway of the stars.

But of course, in Mixed media, we always need more, not only those paint splashes that make our path look like an explosion of color but also more textures. An excellent way to create all that texture is by applying stamps with inks in tones very similar to the background color. In my case, I used numbers and swirls stamps that you can find in the set Mix it Up 1.

We will stamp the whale on a separate watercolor paper to paint it with our pigments as if they were watercolors. To facilitate this process, I recommend stamping in black and embossing with transparent powder. I chose one of the gorgeous whales of the set Whale Wishes.

I also stamped, painted, and fussy cut some clouds and a moon from the set Night & Day Big.

The most enjoyable part was putting together the composition with all the elements, adding some splatters with white paint wherever I wanted, and adding a positive sentiment to help us focus on the path for the upcoming year. I chose the phrase ‘Embrace what you are’ from the set Mixed Sentiments 1.

Here are some detailed pictures of my final page. The result was simply stunning and it perfectly captured the grace and elegance of this enchanting creature as it moved gracefully through the starry night sky, embracing what it is. Just what I envision for myself next year.

Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey, and may your creativity continue to flow in the next year.

And finally, don’t forget to share your creations with us in our FB group (Rubber Dance Stamping Lounge), we’d love to see them!

Until next time, happy creating!

Hugs, Priss
