Art Journal Tutorial with Distress Inks and Funny Fungi
Hi there, Susanne here with an art journal page tutorial using Distress Inks & Oxides together with our Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil, our Mix It Up 4 stamp set and the lovely Funny Fungi. Scroll down to watch the video.
I started this art journal page with some Distress Ink blending using Ripe Persimmon and Aged Mahagony. I added some stenciling using our Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil with Peeled Paint. I stamped the stars from Mix It Up 4 wit Distress Oxide in Worn Lipstick and Distress Ink in Aged Mahagony. For more interest I used also the postcard stamp from Mix It Up 6. To bring texture to the page I added water droplets with my spray bottle.
Once the page was dry I adhered to strips of old book paper to the bottom of the page and blended it with Peeled Paint and Pine Needles. I wanted it to be a bit darker, so I added Black Soot to the bottom and a tiny little bit to the top left.
I decided to use the lovely FFunny Fungi stamp as my focal image. I stamped it twice, once to the page and another time onto a piece of Mix Media paper. I colored this one in, cut the mushrooms directly on the outline, inked the white paper edges with a black marker and adhere them onto the stamped image on my page. I added a little bit of shadow to the bottom with a black water-soluble crayon. I also added some white splatters. I stamped the border of Mix It Up 4 to the bottom using black ink.
To fill the left side of the spread I glued down a sentiment from our Mixed Sentiments 1, that was stamped with white embossing powder to black card stock. I also did some more stenciling with the Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil using Pine Needles. By the way, the art journal I am using is the Canson Graduate Drawing Sketchbook in A6.
