Art Journal Page Tutorial with Sketchy Birds 1

Here’s the step by step tutorial:

I used my Windsor & Newton Cotman watercolours to colour a couple of images from the Sketchy Birds 1 set.

Once dry, I added some shading with a graphite pencil, and some highlights with a white Posca pen.

For the background, I brayered acrylic paint onto a basic sheet of copier paper, then added elements using Distress Oxide inks and stamps from the Mix it Up 4 set.

Do take note – the Distress Oxide ink does take a while to dry on the acrylic background!

Once the paper was dry, I tore it to fit my art journal and then heat embossed some images from the Mix It Up 1 set.

I decided the yellow outline stars needed to make more of an impact. So I coloured them in with Distress Oxide inks and then heat embossed them in clear.

All of my elements ready to assemble … acrylic paint background, water coloured bird, some tissue paper collage elements from my stash, and my usual co-ordinating thread and iridescent sequins.
