Easy Art Journaling with Watercolors and Pencil Marks 2

Hi there, Susanne here with an easy and playful watercolor spread using mark making and collage fodder made with our Pencil Marks 2 stamp set. I enjoy painting abstract and loose with watercolors because I really love the properties of this medium. Scroll down for a quick process clip.

I am working with watercolors that have some granulating effects and metallic pigments. For my mark making I am using (coloured) pencils, Neocolors and stamps (the little hearts and dots where on the Textured Birds 1 clear set, which is no longer available). My focal image is a leaf from our Pencil Marks 2 stamp set. I stamped this with Distress Inks to watercolor paper. I inked up the stamp with two different colours, spritzed it with a tiny bit of water and pressed it onto the paper. This gave me a lovely loose and watercolory effect.
To make sure that the whole spread looks vibrant and dynamic it’s important to leave some white spots between the paints and marks! This gives highlights and movement!

Here is a glimpse into the process

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
