Loose Watercolor Art Journal Page with Butterfly

Hi there, Susanne here with an art journaling tutorial. Today I’m playing with my Daniel Smith watercolor sticks and stamps from Butterflies and Moths, Mix It Up 6 and Mix It Up 5. I really love playing intuitively and abstract with watercolors. You don’t need these sticks to play along, usual watercolors will work just as fine.

The page is very loose and easy to make! I love to play with watercolors and let them do their thing. I am working in my smaller almost square watercolor sketchbook. To bring in some more depth I am using different background stamps from Mix It Up 6 and Mix It Up 5. I use different colours for stamping.

My focal image is one of our Butterflies and Moths stamps. I embossed it in black onto a gelli print, that had some matching colours for the background. The sentiment is from an older set, which is no longer available. I finished the page with some white splatters.

Here is a process video for this spread:

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
