Easy Art Journal Collage with Fodder and Mark Making

Hi there, Susanne here with a quick mixed media art journal page tutorial in one of my small spiral bound sketchpads, using handmade collage papers, mark making, stamping and collage fodder made with our Collage Leaves 2 stamps. Scroll down for a process video.

I started this spread by adhering some of my handmade collage papers. I picked a complementary color palette of bright yellow, dirty blue and dark papers. I did some background stamping with the numbers stamp from Mix It Up 1 and mark makings with Neocolor crayons. For more interest I made some black ink splatters to build more depth.
I finished up the page with a botanical ephemera piece, made with one of the Collage Leaves 2 stamps.

Enjoy watching the video:

The focal image is stamped with Distress Inks in black soot. After I’ve inked up the stamp I gave it a spritz with water and stamped it to watercolor paper. This gives the image a more handdrawn and loose look. I have recorded a quick tutorial for that, too.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
