Spring Inspired Art Journal Page with Brushos and Collage Fodder

Hi there, Susanne here with a spring inspired spread in my handmade junk art journal using some of our brand new stamps and stencils. I am playing with collage fodder made with our new Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil and two of the cute Textured Birds 2.

I started the background of this page with different collage papers including handmade washi tape, gelli prints and scrapbooking paper. I adhered the torn pieces with a glue stick and covered the whole spread with a layer of clear gesso. I am using Brusho powders after the gesso was dry to bring in colour. Once this was dry I added a little bit of background stamping with the text stamp from Mix It Up 4 and images from Pencil Marks 7. I made some crayon marks with Neocolor II, too.

To make the botanical elements with the Sketchy Leaves 4 stencil I sprayed water through the stencil onto some mix media paper, removed it immediately and sprinkled the Brushos carefully onto it. You don’t need much powder for this technique and you might have to experiment with the amount of water you use. I have a video at the bottom of the post with a little demo for you!

I also used the Brushos to colour in my birdies which I’ve stamped to the same paper with Versafine Clair. I am wetting the areas of each bird separately and add in a little amount of powder. A little goes a LONG way here! Watch the video below to get an idea how I worked with the Brushos:

The brushos come with a closed lid. I made a hole with a pin needle into it to use it for sprinkling!

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
