Mixed Media Spread with Inky Friends

Lindsey (@doodlings_cards) here today. I have a mixed media project using the Bee stamp from the Inky Friends stamp set and several of the diverse images from Pencil Marks #1.

For my background, I used a brayer to layer 2 colours of ink to give soft peachy tones, then added depth with some of the images from the Pencil Marks #1 set. This was one of the very first sets I bought – I can highly recommend it! It has some great images for adding interest to backgrounds 😁

I used the larger scallop image with gold embossing powder to add a bit of bling and heat embossed the chevron image in white for some texture and added interest.

For the focal image, I stamped the wasp in Black Versafine ink so that I could use my Caran d’Ache watercolour crayons; then added a spot of shading with a graphite pencil to give the illusion of depth and a Wink of Stella for shimmering wings.

As you may have noticed, I am partial to a smattering of shimmer! So I used gold embossing powder to highlight a word from the Journal Words stamp sheet. I often stamp sentiments and words onto tissue paper so that the paper is transparent when adhered to the project and doesn’t detract from the background.

Now all of my collage elements are complete, it’s time for a spot of stitching. Am I too predictable?!😁

Here’s a couple of close-ups …

Thanks so much for stopping by today! See you again soon 😊

Happy crafting! Lindsey x
