Journaling Cards with Collage Background and Sketchy Birds

Hi there, Susanne here with two mixed media journaling cards using birds from our Sketchy Birds 2 stamp set. For the cards I made a background from colorful paperscraps and design paper. It’s one of my favourite ways to start a mixed media piece, no matter if it’s an art journal page, an artist trading card or any other project.

After I’d adhered all my papers to the cardbase (Canson Mix Media Paper) I sealed it with a layer of clear gesso and added a border with stamps from Mixed Media Borders. The birds are stamped to watercolor paper, I colored them in with watercolor markers. Here you can watch the full process video:
