Mixed Media Greeting Card Using Gel Prints

Hi there! It’s Laura on the blog today and I have a fun mixed media card using one of the lovely Doodle Flowers! Do you sometimes find it hard to know what to do with gel prints? I know I do! But I love creating collage in my art journal and so I thought why not do the same on a greeting card.

For my card I used gel prints that I had made using the Sketchy Leaves 2 and Criss-Cross stencil. I tore sections of gel prints and adhered them down to a 5 1/2 inch square panel of card. I then trimmed off the excess using my paper trimmer.

I added some stamping using the Mix it Up 1 stamp set which added a little more interest.

For my focal element I stamped one of the Doodle Flowers in some black ink and fussy cut the image out. I chose to keep it black and white so as to add contrast to the bright and colourful background and simply added some foam tape to add dimension.

For the sentiment I used ‘Best Wishes’ from the Inky Flowers stamp set and also added some foam tape behind that.

I added the card front to a mat layer of black card stock which was 5 3/4 inches square and then attached it to a 6 x 6 card blank.

I really hope this gives you some inspiration and thank you so much for stopping by!

Happy crafting!
