Mixed Media Index Card with Stencil Background and Collage Fodder

Hi there, Susanne here with a mixed media index card using some handmade collage fodder botanicals on a messy background. For the background I used our Organic 1 stencil together with heavy gesso to create a pattern. I picked a stenciled focal image that I made using our Sketchy Leaves 3 stencils together with Brusho pigment powders.

I cut this card (3.5″ x 5″) from heavy weight watercolor cardboard and applied the stencil texture. After this was dry I used acrylic inks to bring in some color. To highlight some of the stencil texture I am slighly going over with my finger and a tiny amount of the gesso again. To bring in even more texture I used stamps from our Mix It Up 1 and and Mixed Media Marks 1 sets. The words are from our Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp set.

To create that botanical element I sprayed water through the Sketchy Leaves 3 stencil onto watercolor paper. I immediately removed the stencil carefully and sprinkled Brusho powders into the wet areas. I let it dry and cut it out.

Here is a video tutorial on how I made the collage fodder:

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
