Mixed Media Tag with Butterfly and Pencil Marks 1

Hi there, Susanne here with a quick and easy mixed media tag using fluid acrylics for the background together with images from Pencil Marks 1 and a butterfly stamp from our Inky Friends set.

I used Canson XL watercolor paper and cut a tag shape with a die and my Sizzix Big Shot. I applied some olive green fluid acrylics loosely with a brush. I also used a circle stamp from Pencil Marks 1 together with the paint to create more interest on the background. When you are using acrylic paints together with your stamps make sure to either clean them right away or keep them wet until you have time to clean them. Otherwise the paint will dry and then it’s hard to get it off your stamp.
After this layer of paint was dry I applied a contrasting colour, quinachridone orange. I made sure to keep some white space! That gives you a loose and fresh look. After this layer was dry I added some stamping with black StazOn ink and the leaves from Pencil Marks 1. I also made some white acrylic ink splatters.
For my focal point I stamped one of the butterflies from the Inky Friends stamp set with Distress Ink black soot to mixed media paper and cut it out. I spritzed a tiny amount of water onto the inked stamp before I pressed it onto the paper (Scroll down for a process clip)
