Mixed Media with Stencil Texture, Acrylic Inks and Collage Fodder

Hi there, Susanne here! I’m sharing a set of two mixed media icads using stencil texture combined with acrylic inks and collage fodder. I am creating a grungy background by combining bright colors with black ink and some stamping. To finish up the cards I use collage fodder made with our Sketchy Leaves stencils and some words from Mix A Sentiment and Mixed Sentiments 1.

To create the texture on the backgrounds I used our Criss-Cross and Small Ink Dots stencils together with Super Heavy Gesso from Liquitex. It’s super thick and can be used just like texture paste. I coverd the whole cards with the pattern and smoothed some areas out whilste the gesso was still wet using a scraper.

Once the gesso was dry I added acylic inks in Magenta, Burnt Sienna and Black. For more grungyness I did some background stamping and added a stitching border with stamps from Mixed Media Marks 1 and Art Defined. I made some extra mark makings with turquoise acrylic paint by using the backside of a paint brush and also a stamp from Mixed Media Marks 1.

For the title I picked some words from our Mix A Sentiment and Mixed Sentiments 1 stamp sets. I embossed the words in white to black cardstock.

Here is a video tutorial on how I made the leaves I used as focal image.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
