Stamping with Stencils – Great Background Technique

Hi there, Susanne here with a mixed media index card using our Mini Ink Dots stencil for the background together with one of our Sketchy Leaves stamps as my focal point. Today I am using the stencil in a different way than usually! I am going to stamp with it! Scroll down for a process video.

My card was already coloured loosely with watercolors. I had it already in my stash. To bring in more depth and some texture I used our Mini Ink Dots stencil together with Distress inks. I applied the stencil texture in two layers with two different colours. My first layer was Aged Mahagoni. I inked up a part of the stencil, spritzed it with a good amount of water and pressed this onto my surface. I immediately removed the stencil and had a gorgeous texture left. I did the same steps with the black soot Distress Ink. I added some extra ink into the corners of the card afterwards with a brush.

Here is a glimpse into the process:

To finish up the card I inked the edges in black and added some stamping with Mix It Up 1. My focal image is a leaf from Sketchy Leaves. I embossed it in black and coloured it loosely with watercolors. I adhered it on top of some small collage bits and added a word from Mix A Sentiment.

I hope I could inspire you a little bit, thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
