Turning your Gel Prints into Greeting Cards using Sketchy Leaves 5

Hi! It’s Laura on the blog today and I have a tutorial to share with you giving you inspiration for ways to turn your gel prints into greeting cards. I am working with the Sketchy Leaves 5 stencil and focal images from Collage Leaves 2 and Butterflies and Moths.
I love creating gel prints but sometimes it can be a challenge to know what to do with them all but I have a simple card making ‘recipe’ that can help you turn ANY gel print into a card.
The key ingredients – a bold border, some mats and layers, a focal image and a sentiment.
Have a bold border really draws your eye in to focus on the gel print. Trimming your gel prints down can really help you focus on the detail of the print too. Adding a bold mat layer of white or black card – depending on your print – can also help to focus your eye on the gel print.
Depending on the pattern in your gel print you may decide just to add a sentiment as I have done here using the A to Z stamp set and some white heat embossing.

Or you may decide to add a focal image to break up your background as I’ve done here using Collage Leaves 2 :

And if you really want to step it up a bit you can also add some more background stamping as I’ve done here using the Mix it up 6 stamp set. As I focal image on this card I used a butterfly from Butterflies and Moths.

Let me know which card is your favourite!
I hope that this gives you some inspiration for ways you can turn your gel prints into gorgeous, unique, one of a kind greeting cards!
Happy crafting!
