Mixed Media Masking – Get more out of your stamps

Hi there, Susanne here sharing a greeting card using stamps from our new Butterflies and Moths on a mixed media background using different stamp images to create one picture using the masking technique! Scroll down for a process clip!

Did you know that you can easily combine different stamps to create a completely new image with a unquie look? All you need are some stamps and some post it notes. For my card today I decided to use one of the butterflies from Butterflies and Moths together with different mixed media stamps from Mix It Up 4, Mix It Up 6 and Mix It Up 7.
I started by stamping the butterfly to a piece of white mixed media paper. I stamped the same image to a post it note. I then cut out the post it directly on the outline – I cut away the antennas completely – and stuck that to the butterfly on my card. This covers the butterfly and makes sure that the other images I am stamping now will not “ruin” the butterfly.
I now stamp different mixed media images to the background using stamps from the sets mentioned above. Of course you can take this technique even further by covering more images to “save” those. Finally this will give you a completely different and unique image with depth.

Here is a video on how I made this card:

After I had finished the stamping I used watercolors to finish the card. I picked some opera pink and raw sienna together with a little bit of green. I make also a few pink splatters and stamped a sentiment from our Happy Birthday stamp set with white embossing powder to black cardstock.

I hope you like the card! Thanks for stopping by today!

xx Susanne
