Collage fodder & card with Textured Birds 1

Don’t we all love to add collage fodder to our projects? And even better – to add selfmade collage fodder! It makes it all so much special. Many of the stamp designs of Rubberdance are perfect for fodder making. I’ve chosen one of the designs with birds – Textured Birds 1 – as my main design for this tutorial and I had so much fun creating the fodder and the card. I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

Unfortunately the Textured Birds 1 are no longer available in the clear stamp version, but you will find the rubber plate linked at the bottom of the post. If you prefer clear stamps you might love the follow-up stamp set: Textured Birds 2.

I’ve created a full time video for you that you can watch on YouTube, it’s linked when you scroll down.

I’ve also made some photos showing some of the steps:

Stamp and heatemboss the birds on watercolor paper.

Use the Distress Ink pad to dab ink directly on an acrylic block and spray some water on the ink. Turn the inked acrylic block upside down and press it down on the paper with the birds. Repeat this process several times – with different colors of ink.

Use other stamps, like leaves and dotts, to stamp more pattern on the birds. Use colored ink.

Cut out the birds – leave a small white edge. Cutting too close to the embossed lines can damage the embossing.

Add some shadow to the birds by coloring with a Derwent Inktence pen and a waterbrush to soften the color.

Sew the birds on to a collage fodder strip made with paperscraps on packing tape.

Cut off a piece of the finished collage fodder and use it as embellishment on a card or in your art journal. Enjoy the video: https://youtu.be/UfRE7UHUyX0

Thank you for reading this post, and I hope you want to make your own birdy collage fodder. Please share it with us by using the hashtag #rubberdancestamps or tag us on Instagram.

Best wishes from Åshild
