Gel Printing Backgrounds using Pencil Marks 8

Hey! It’s Laura on the blog today and I’ve been playing with my gel press to create backgrounds and today I’m sharing a card I’ve made using Pencil Marks 8.

To create my background I used dye based inks on my gel press. I then used a brayer to blends the inks together – I used a mix of greens and yellows and by using a brayer you get a beautiful smooth blend of colour. I placed several of the foliage stamps on my gel plate and then lifted them up and changed the placement until I had made sufficient impressions on my background. I then used some smooth white card to lift my print.

To add more texture and interest I then did some stamping using the same inks and stamps but this time directly on the background to give a more bold impression. I also added some extra stamping using the dots stamp from Pencil Marks 8 and text stamping using a stamp from Mix it Up 4.

I used a bird from the Textured Birds 2 stamp, which I water coloured, along with a sentiment from the same stamp set, white heat embossed on black card, to finish off my card for today.

I really hope you like it and that it’s given you some inspiration!

Happy crafting!
