Mixed Media Card with Textured Sea Creatures and Distress Oxide Background

Hey, hey, hey! Selene on the blog today with a new summerly mixed media card using images from the Textured Sea Creatures and the Marks 2 stencil together with Distress Oxides for the background. I decided to go monochrome this time and I chose blue and blue-green to build the frame for this super cute turtle.
I started with a super easy background built using Marks 2 stencil and distress oxides. Which colours? Of course: salvaged patina, broken china and peacock feathers (which are among my favs!!!!)
I then used the same colours to stamp the plants from Pencil Marks 1 stamps set – I wanted them to have different textures so, I used both white copy paper and crafting paper with a gesso base.
For the turtle – from Textured Sea Creatures stamps set – I decided to use watercolours and add accents with coloured pencils and white gel pen.
I had a few leftovers of embossed elements from my previous tags, so I placed them at the bottom: I find them quite gorgeous and I didn’t want to waste them ^_^
When I put all the elements together I was not completely happy, though. I felt it was a bit too “monochromatic”.
I know this was the original intention, nonetheless I decided to go in with a few touches of yellow and orange on the border, plus spirals, both yellowish and bluish, to make things a bit more consistent.
A few paper bubbles, stitches and an handwritten sentiment complete the card.

Hope you like this! Indeed it was so much fun to build this up.
Hope to be of any inspiration!
