Mixed Media Card with Distress Oxide Background and Sketchy Birds

Hi there! It’s Laura here on the blog today and I’ve got a mixed media card tutorial to share with you using some of the lovely images from our Sketchy Birds 2 and Inky Flowers stamp set combined with Distress Oxide background.

First of all I created my background. I used Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick and Twisted Citron and I simply ink smooshed the colours onto my background. I added one colour at a time to avoid making ‘mud.’ Once the panel was dry I added some stamping using the Mix it Up 1 stamp set to add some interest to the background.

I stamped some of the Inky Flowers and a Sketchy Bird on some watercolour cardstock using VersaFine Onxy black ink and then I water coloured the images. Once they were dry I fussy cut them out.

I played around with my layout and once I was happy with it I stuck the flowers down using glue and I popped the bird on some foam tape. For a sentiment I used the Mix A Sentiment 2023 stamp set and used Versafine Clair Acorn Ink. I added some pencil lines around the words so they stood out.
